Women empowerment under the Modi govt

Women's empowerment has been a significant priority for the Modi government since its inception in 2014. The government has launched various initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic status of women, increasing their representation in decision-making positions, and promoting gender equality in the country. These initiatives have led to significant progress in the empowerment of women in India, with several indicators showing marked improvement.

One of the flagship schemes launched by the Modi government is the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign, which aims to promote the education and welfare of girls and combat female foeticide. The campaign has been implemented in over 700 districts across the country and has led to a significant improvement in the sex ratio at birth.

The government has also taken various steps to ensure the safety and security of women, including the launch of the Nirbhaya Fund and the introduction of stricter laws against sexual offenses.

Another important initiative of the Modi government is the Ujjwala Yojana, which aims to provide clean cooking fuel to women living below the poverty line. The scheme has been successful in improving the health and well-being of women and reducing the incidence of respiratory diseases caused by the use of traditional cooking fuels.

The government has also taken steps to increase the participation of women in the workforce through schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, which provides loans to women entrepreneurs, and the Stand Up India scheme, which aims to promote entrepreneurship among women and members of other marginalized communities. These initiatives have helped women to start their businesses and become financially independent.

The government has passed the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Constitution, which reserve one-third of seats in local bodies for women. The government has also increased the representation of women in the Union Cabinet, with several key ministries being headed by women.
