Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to make a visit to Pune

On August 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune, Maharashtra, where he will partake in several significant events. According to a release from the Prime Minister's Office, he will commence the day by laying the foundation stone for various development projects. Additionally, during his visit, he will be honored with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award, which was established in 1983 by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust to commemorate the legacy of Lokmanya Tilak. This award is presented annually on August 1, which marks the death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, to recognize individuals who have made remarkable and extraordinary contributions to the progress and development of the nation.

The day's itinerary outlines that at around 11 AM, the Prime Minister will perform Darshan and Pooja at Dagdusheth Mandir, followed by the conferral of the Lokmanya Tilak National Award at 11:45 AM. Subsequently, at 12:45 PM, he will inaugurate metro train services and lay the foundation stone for various development projects. The inauguration will mark the completion of sections from Phugewadi station to Civil Court station and from Garware College station to Ruby Hall Clinic station, connecting essential locations within Pune city, including Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Pune Municipal Corporation office, Pune RTO, and Pune Railway Station.

The statement also highlights the unique design elements of some of the metro stations inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, such as the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan Metro Station and Deccan Gymkhana metro stations, reflecting the soldiers' headgear known as "Mavala Pagadi." Additionally, the Shivaji Nagar underground Metro station evokes the architectural features of forts built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Waste to Energy Plant, a project developed at a cost of approximately ₹300 crores by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). This plant will utilize about 2.5 lakh MT of waste annually to generate electricity.

Further, as part of the Housing for All initiative, the Prime Minister will hand over more than 1280 houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by PCMC, and over 2650 PMAY houses built by Pune Municipal Corporation. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for approximately 1190 PMAY houses to be constructed by PCMC and over 6400 houses built by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

The award will make Prime Minister Narendra Modi the 41st recipient of this prestigious honor. Past recipients of the award include prominent figures such as Shankar Dayal Sharma, Pranab Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, N R Narayana Murthy, and E Sreedharan, among others.
