KHYBER/LAKKI MARWAT: Two traders from Tirah Valley in Khyber tribal district were brutally killed by suspected terrorists, who slit their throats and abandoned their bodies in a hilly area on Tuesday.
According to sources in Tirah Valley, the beheaded bodies of Haji Sher Mohammad, president of the trader organization, and another trader, Ibrar, were discovered by locals on the Hodal Sar hilltop in Bhutan Shareef on Tuesday morning.
The two men had been abducted by armed assailants on January 30 and remained in captivity. A local jirga had engaged in multiple negotiations with the suspected terrorists to secure their release.
The kidnappers accused the traders of espionage, alleging that their actions led to the deaths of four suspected terrorists in an intelligence-based operation on January 25.
Sources revealed that the suspected militants had informed the jirga that two of their slain leaders, Abdul Aziz alias Qari Ismail and Mukhlis, had taken refuge in Haji Sher’s house before the operation. They suspected him of betraying them by sharing their whereabouts with security forces.
No militant group operating in Tirah Valley has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the jirga members have remained silent about those they negotiated with.
