A 46-year-old member of the Ahmadiyya community was killed after being brutally beaten by a mob of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) supporters who had gathered outside an Ahmadi worship place in Karachi’s Saddar area on Friday, according to police reports.

Authorities stated that the victim, a shop owner from Tariq Road, rushed to the scene after hearing about the protest. South Karachi DIG Syed Asad Raza said the man was attacked near the auto spare parts market while he was filming the demonstrators. The mob recognized him and launched a violent assault. Despite being taken to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

DIG Raza noted that around 400 aggressive individuals had assembled outside the Ahmadiyya community center, which was already under heightened security due to recent similar events in the city. Police and Rangers quickly responded and safely evacuated several community members from the premises.

CCTV footage from the area confirmed that the victim was recording the protest when he was recognized and assaulted. The video shows him being attacked, falling, and then repeatedly beaten by the crowd. He was known as an active member of the Ahmadi community.
