Deepak was reported missing on Monday, December 16. His family alleged that he had been abducted and promptly informed the authorities. They accused a group of Muslim men, including Mohammad Fakaruddin, Md. Idrish, Md. Anwar, Md. Azahruddin, Ms. Azaad, Md. Sohail, Md. Saabir, Md. Aamir, Md. Saahil, and Md. Akeesh, of orchestrating the abduction. The family further claimed that these individuals had been threatening Deepak and pressuring him to withdraw as a witness in a court case. Reportedly, these individuals, angered by Deepak’s role in exposing their alleged crimes, sought to silence him through violence.

Deepak’s family resides in Sector 62, Noida, and had been searching for him relentlessly since his disappearance. His brother Dileep confirmed that Deepak was last seen on the day he went missing. Yashpal Singh, a police spokesperson, stated that a missing person report had been filed, and efforts to locate Deepak had been ongoing since the report was lodged.

The search came to a tragic end when the family received news of the discovery of a decomposed body in nearby bushes. The body, identified by the family as Deepak’s, bore signs of severe mutilation, with several fingers and toes missing, exacerbating their grief. The remains have been sent for a postmortem examination at Badhshah Khan Civil Hospital, while investigations continue to uncover the circumstances of his death.

A copy of the complaint filed by Dileep has surfaced online, naming individuals, including Fakruddin, Idris, Anwar, Azad, and Sohail, among others, as having ongoing conflicts with Deepak prior to his death.

Deepak Kumar’s murder has sparked widespread protests, with locals demanding swift arrests and prosecution of all those involved. Protesters have called for expedited trials in related cases, enhanced protection for witnesses in sensitive matters, and stronger laws against gender-based violence and witness intimidation to prevent similar tragedies.

This case sheds light on a troubling pattern of violence in India, drawing comparisons to similar incidents in Europe. For instance, in the United Kingdom, grooming gangs—predominantly of Pakistani origin—have been implicated in systemic sexual exploitation of young girls. The tactics employed by such groups, including manipulation, coercion, and violence, echo patterns observed in cases of gang rape and alleged "love jihad" in India, where victims are often targeted based on religious identity. Such incidents underscore the need for addressing ideologies that foster division and impunity, perpetuating cycles of abuse and violence globally.
